Polarities: Positive, Negative and Neutral Charge
My perspective on adding, releasing and maintaining balance on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.

In our daily lives, we are exposed to different kinds of energy — internal or external — that can have a considerable influence on our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Understanding the different kinds of charge — positive, negative and neutral — and their properties can help us manage the energy within us more effectively and maintain balance in our lives.
In this article, we will explore these three basic charges in detail, how they relate to the different aspects of our life, and how we can use this knowledge to regulate processes according to our needs.
They can be used on a physical level, for example in our everyday interaction with the material world; on an emotional level, in our relationships and inner experiences; on a psychological level, in our thinking and perception of the world; and on a spiritual level, in our aspirations for spiritual development and practice. We will provide examples of how we can use these charges in different situations.
Three basic charges
We can distinguish three basic charges:
- Positive (+): proton.
- Negative (−): electron.
- Neutral (=): neutron.
Positive charge: beginning, adding and activating
Positive charge is associated with beginning, adding, charging, activation and filling with energy. This is the energy that helps us move forward, create, enrich our lives and develop.
On a physical level
Positive charge can be connected with our efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle, such as exercising regularly, building healthy eating habits and, in general, everything connected with willpower and a period of sustained effort.
On an emotional level
This can include our work on finding a way to express ourselves — whether by verbalising our emotions and sharing them with others or by finding a suitable activity for creative expression.
On a mental level
Positive charge can be connected with our efforts to think positively and build our own morality and model of the world to fit our paradigm.
On a spiritual level
Positive charge can be connected with our efforts towards spiritual growth and enlightenment, such as meditation, yoga, prayer or other spiritual practices.
Negative charge: release and purification
Negative charge, in turn, is characterised by taking away, releasing, expelling, purifying, suppressing, repelling and neutralising an excessively positive charge. Negative energy is used to remove stagnant or nonfunctional energies.
It can also be viewed as a lack of a particular positive quality or the presence of its opposite.
Releasing a mental belief
On a mental level, this might be a previously established mistaken thought, for example: “Whatever new thing I start, I fail.” In this case, negative energy can serve to release this belief.
Unburdening the emotional level
We ourselves need to recognise when one of the levels needs unburdening. For example, we feel that we are too emotional and have no control over what we pour onto those around us, and we need to suppress and stop these emotional outbursts in order to preserve our relationships.
Purification and states of lack
On a physical level, this can be understood as purification, a period of fasting or detoxification. We will also use the minus sign to denote states and areas in which lack predominates.
On the emotional level in this case, negative energy is denoted by depression. Besides being a state in which existing emotions are suppressed, lack can also result from the absence of emotions vital to us, such as love, passion and others of a similar kind.

Neutral charge: the midpoint and the eye of the storm
Neutral charge is associated with emptiness, absence of influences, the midpoint, the eye of the storm. Neutral processes and methods are those that keep us in balance as we move along the timeline. The ability to remain unchanged by external energies and influences.
This means that, in times when a particular energy is lacking, we manage to maintain overall balance by drawing energy from elsewhere to compensate. A state in which we maintain an even energy at the level of the plane on which we are working.
Example: career, discipline and steady movement
For example, in our career we are at the “+” level — work. We are in the process of building and reaching a satisfactory point of development. At the same time, on the mental plane, we use a “+−” affirmation and say inwardly: “I maintain discipline and move gradually and confidently towards achieving the result.”
Neutrality on the mental level keeps us at an even pace. We do not fall into the extreme of mentally wanting more and more through a “+” affirmation, nor do we deny or reject our possibility of success through doubts.
Author's interpretation: the symbols “+”, “−” and “=” belong to an authorial model of activation, release and balance. The analogies with proton, electron and neutron are not a physical explanation of emotions or spiritual experiences. Depression and physical conditions are not diagnosed using these symbols; the practices mentioned do not constitute an individual recommendation for treatment or fasting.
