Every person’s aim on their life journey, whether they realize it or not, is to become a clearer and more complete version of themselves. The chakra system, developed thousands of years ago, continues to evolve and adapt, offering a valuable tool for self-improvement.

It helps us explore the different layers of our personality, observe ourselves and become aware of our inner processes. Each person is a collection of layers at energetic levels through which they express their essence.

Chakras: Filters through Which We Perceive Life

Each chakra acts as a lens, a kind of filter through which we sense and interpret the world. Each is responsible for different aspects of our existence and personal development.

Even without conscious efforts to develop the chakras, life inevitably confronts us with situations that encourage us to clear our perceptions. Accumulated life experience, social influences and beliefs formed in childhood often cloud the clarity of these “lenses” and lead to a distorted perception of reality.

Chakras as Repositories of Experience

The chakras also hold memories and emotional traces of past events. If a negative experience is accepted as an unchanging truth, it becomes a filter through which we interpret everything else. This perception can accompany us throughout life unless we recognize it and consciously transform it.

The same applies to positive beliefs. Each person has the opportunity to use their will and awareness to change how they perceive themselves and the world.

How Can We Transform Negative Beliefs?

Change begins with observation and awareness. As soon as we catch a negative thought, we can transform it into an affirming belief. For example, if we notice ourselves thinking, “There isn’t enough work or money in Bulgaria,” we can deliberately replace that belief with: “Bulgaria is a wonderful place to develop my potential.”

For a better effect, it is useful to write down our new beliefs and reread them regularly. This creates a lasting inner pattern that gradually changes our perceptions. This process can be applied to every chakra.

For example, if we heard “You’re good for nothing” in childhood, that belief affects the third chakra, which is connected to self-respect. In that case, we can replace this negative program with affirmations such as:

  • “I am a valuable person with unique gifts, and I move confidently toward success.”
  • “My contribution is meaningful and valuable, regardless of my current position.”
  • “I strive to realize my full potential.”

Life invariably places us in situations that reflect our inner blockages, giving us the opportunity to change them.

The Chakras and Historical Influences

For a long time, human civilization has focused on survival and stability — a theme associated with the first chakra. In Bulgaria, for example, prolonged periods of enslavement and social insecurity have left an imprint on the collective consciousness, creating a persistent pattern of fear and struggle for survival. Even in today’s conditions of relative safety, these fears continue to influence our perception of reality and the formation of our beliefs.

Transforming these collective beliefs is key to personal and social development.

Differences between Male and Female Energy Systems

Sex also influences the way energy is distributed through the chakras.

Men generally have a more active first chakra, as historically their role has been connected with providing resources, protection and physical resilience. This explains why many men focus on material security but often do not sufficiently develop their emotional and intuitive aspects.

Women, on the other hand, are more strongly connected with the second chakra, which governs emotions, relationships and sexuality. They tend to seek stability through relationships and creating a family.

Common Negative Beliefs

Among men:

  • “If I don’t have enough money, I won’t be attractive to women.”
  • “All women are materialistic.”

These beliefs lead to an excessive focus on the financial aspect of life at the expense of personal development.

Among women:

  • “I have to look perfect to be loved.”
  • “A man is obliged to provide me with security.”

Such beliefs can lead to inner insecurity and an inability to experience fulfilling relationships.

Rising toward Higher Levels of Consciousness

The first three chakras are connected with our personal identity, while the higher chakras lead us toward universality and awareness of life’s interconnections. Moving from an individual focus to a more global perception requires awareness, work on ourselves and release from limiting beliefs.

Through conscious use of the chakra system, we can not only understand ourselves better but also create a more harmonious interaction with the world around us.
