Chakras
Beliefs and Chakras — Part 3: Vishuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara
The third part of the series: communication, creative expression, intuition, holistic perception and spiritual connection.

Many people become stuck in the themes of a particular chakra, and it becomes their favourite because they feel comfortable in the role they have been playing for a long time. When our focus is mainly on one or two chakras, life also keeps us within the thought patterns and beliefs associated with them.
What we materialise, attract and experience is limited to these situations alone. If we notice the states we find ourselves in most often, then, by transforming the problematic chakras and reprogramming the thinking of the less active ones, we will gradually begin to embrace the whole spectrum of life.
Knowing about the chakras and their themes, we can tune into the mental frequency of the chakra most appropriate to a given situation. For example, someone whose emphasis is constantly on the first chakra (material survival — money) would not be able to fully enjoy seeing loved ones and expressing deep love (the fourth chakra). This is because they are busy thinking about their next business deal or about who owes them money.
This happens because the fourth chakra (the heart) has been blocked as a result of trauma and its sensations have been suppressed. When we activate a chakra in any way — physical, emotional and mental, verbal, intuitive or divine — we make it spin more strongly, and forgotten or suppressed states, memories, feelings, images, beliefs and so on begin to surface within us. This is how the chakras are purified, because every purification means encountering our own traumas and accepting them with love.
As we gradually change our paradigm, we will notice feelings that are new to us in different areas of life — feelings we could not experience before because we were caught in a rigid, repetitive “film”. The process of opening and closing the chakras continues until all misconceptions about receiving and giving are transformed into trust in a benevolent and nurturing Universe.
Vishuddha: the fifth (throat) chakra
Main functions: Communication. Charm. Realising that good communication means being a good listener. Communicating. Manifesting what we feel and think clearly and sincerely. Purification. Communication comes easily and we express ourselves without inner resistance.
Self-expression, creativity, the gift of speech, a rich vocabulary. Music, a sense of rhythm, vibration. Opening pathways to more truthful and accurate communication and transmission of information. Eloquence. Understanding what other people need to learn and speaking about it in an easy, accessible way. Diplomacy.
Intuitive communication in which what has been learned simply manifests spontaneously. Recognising symbolic meanings. Synthesising ideas into symbols. Being able to live in resonance with all life and follow the rhythm of its cycles. Bringing what is inside us into the outside world.
The fifth chakra is the centre of our connection with the world. Through the throat, we express what is inside us from the lower chakras — what we feel — and from the upper ones — what we think. The fifth chakra becomes blocked when negative emotions or thoughts rage within us and we are afraid to express them to others. Or, when the chakra opens excessively, we simply decide that we no longer want to keep all of this inside and begin pouring our problems onto other people to relieve ourselves.
Another kind of blockage occurs when we want to express our creativity but someone else's belief has taken root within us, for example: “You cannot sing, so you had better not,” “To be a writer, actor or artist, you need talent,” and so on.
We distort the energy in the fifth chakra when we maintain lies we have told. Through positive affirmations for all the chakras, we will change our mental attitude so that, eventually, what we think will be noble and worthy of expression.
We can use the manifesting power of the fifth chakra and speak our affirmations aloud.
Fifth chakra: negative states and beliefs
The voice is constricted, quiet or mumbling when the chakra is weak. Or it is loud, sharp and inclined to interrupt others when the throat chakra functions excessively. Inability to listen. Inability to express what we think and feel. We lie or say what people want to hear instead of expressing our own position. We are afraid to speak our truth in case we are rejected and blamed.
“Chattering” and imposing our own opinion. We do not let others have their say. We shout and yell. We keep many secrets and constantly watch what we say so that we do not reveal something. We disregard and fail to respect someone else's personal opinion and creativity.
We talk too much and control the conversation so that attention continually falls on us. Intrigue and slander. When the fifth chakra is overactive and dominant, there is a tendency to keep talking and share tons of unnecessary information without noticing whether anyone is interested.

- I trust that, little by little, I am becoming more aware of my personal creativity and that it will express itself at the best possible moment.
- I express my gratitude to life.
Ajna: the sixth chakra (third eye)
Main functions: Knowledge. Perception. Directing the lower functions. Recognising patterns. Intuition. Seeing and understanding how things work. Awareness of deeper and subtler patterns, as well as the meaning of life.
Gathering information from the lower chakras and recognising recurring mechanisms. Recognising what works and what does not. The ability to see the whole picture. Storing a database of information about different archetypes. Integrating our whole personality and understanding who we are and what our mission is here.
Psychic abilities. Merging human and spiritual energies. Seeking objective and universally applicable knowledge. Seeking truth. The ability to imagine and understand mental concepts. Containing our beliefs and our overall picture of life and the Universe.
To develop the sixth chakra, we need the preceding chakras to be well balanced, to practise visualisation and to have faith in the extrasensory abilities hidden within us. We need to work with our dreams and distinguish recurring archetypes and symbols.
Simply remembering our dreams early in the morning is an extremely important link in building a bridge between the conscious and the unconscious. Write down your dreams. Drawing and working with colours develop the sixth chakra, as does listening to guided visualisation meditations.
Sixth chakra: negative states and beliefs
We think we have already discovered and recognised a certain pattern in a similar recurring event, and we restrict ourselves from taking in new information because we think we already know a great deal about the person, subject or event.
Insufficient information or a distorted understanding of an archetypal image — for example, the archetype of the “Hero” — would lead to illusion. An excessively strong influence of, and fixation on, an archetypal image: “The Mother”, “The Lover”, “The Martyr”, “The Teacher”, “The Creator”, “The Rebel”, and so on. Falling into the wrong archetype, one that does not correspond to our personal mission on Earth.
An unemotional thinker. A constant need for insight. Preoccupation with spirituality and higher levels of thought while neglecting the physical. Excessive preoccupation with thinking rather than a desire to accomplish something in reality. Excessively unemotional logic. Conviction in the superiority of the intellect.
Sixth chakra: transforming beliefs and affirmations
- Little by little, I clarify my individual archetype, understand my purpose in life and attract the things and knowledge I need.
- Creative ideas come to me for my own development and that of my loved ones and all humanity.
- I intuitively make the best decisions for my soul and for the smooth development of my individuality.
- The hemispheres of my brain work in balance.
- I tune into the universal information field and draw intuitive information from it.
- I have access to the higher powers.
- I am intelligent, I think quickly and clearly, and I see the whole picture of the circumstances, including their cause-and-effect relationships.
- I have a good memory, which I can access intuitively at the moments when I need it.
- I have strong psychic abilities.
- I have access to my intuition/inner guidance.
- I listen to my deepest wisdom. I am learning to trust my intuition.
- Life continually sends me signs and messages that help me make decisions.
- I thank my intuition and my subconscious.
Sahasrara: the seventh (crown) chakra
Main functions: Connection with the divine. Connection with the spiritual. The unity of a person's entire being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Inspiration for life. Subtle cosmic energy. A sense of wholeness and integration in the world. The meaning of life.
Universality. Belief systems. Enlightenment. Receiving thoughts, ideas, inspiration and information from the Divine Mind for guidance on life's path. Superconsciousness. A desire for knowledge. Understanding that every experience has meaning and brings a lesson in life. A sense of oneness with the Universe.
Seventh chakra: negative states and beliefs
Fear of God. Unwillingness to be one with the Universe. Separating divine will from individual will. Negative experience of religion. Rejecting the spiritual nature of the human being. A sense that life lacks meaning despite material and intellectual wellbeing.
Spiritual emptiness and disconnection. Inner loneliness. Rejecting information and losing curiosity about life. Lack of interest in learning new things. Forcing others into structured religion — for example, strongly religious parents making their children participate in rituals that awaken in the children an aversion to spirituality.
“Knowing everything” about spirituality. The feeling that there is nothing new to learn. Fixation on a single viewpoint. Resistance to new information because it undermines the belief system. Belief in limitations. “Whatever I do, I never receive recognition,” “Nobody can attend lectures while raising children,” and so on. Strong spiritual scepticism. Overintellectualising and living exclusively “in the head” to avoid feelings and daily tasks.
Using too much knowledge to strengthen the ego, at the expense of developing feelings, the heart and the body. Addiction to drugs and psychoactive substances. Using spirituality to escape daily tasks and the lessons of the lower chakras. Ascetic practices. Too much information without appropriate organisation in consciousness. Too much information without applying it in life.
Seventh chakra: transforming beliefs and affirmations
- I am connected to the wisdom of the Universe.
- I am open to the wisdom of the Universe.
- I am open to Divine wisdom.
- I am learning to meditate, even for just five minutes a day.
- I choose belief systems that are positive and constructive for my whole personality.
- I connect my knowledge from every area of life and know that life is one great One-ness — an “I” and a “we” in unity.
- I can direct my attention selectively towards the areas of life in which I want to grow.
- I receive information from my Higher Self.
- I am open to signs from the spiritual realms.
- I release limiting beliefs and broaden my horizons.
- I am grateful to the Universe that I am alive and here.
- I am thankful for all the lessons that help me grow.
- I trust that my life is guided by the Divine Mind and is leading me towards a higher level of existence, which is love, bliss, light and ecstasy.
